How does Laser Hair Removal work?

Laser Hair Removal is a non-invasive treatment that permanently eliminates hair by allowing pulses of laser light to target the pigment of the hair follicle. The pigment absorbs the light, which causes the follicle to be destroyed. Multiple treatments are needed to cover the various stages of hair follicle growth.

How many Laser Hair Removal sessions do I need and when will I see results?

You will begin to see results from your very first Laser Hair Removal treatment! However, the number of treatments for complete, long-term results depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Laser Hair Removal works by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of hair removal procedure. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, repeat treatments are necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area. Most individuals require 6 treatments for complete results, but in some cases more are needed.

How are treatments spaced out?

Laser hair removal treatments are generally done 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the area of treatment, individual and how many treatments they have already had.

How do I prepare for Laser Hair Removal treatment?

It is important that you stop shaving, waxing, or plucking the area you wish to have treated 2 to 4 weeks prior to your appointment. This way all the hair follicles have time to grow out so that the laser will be much more effective.

How long does Laser Hair removal take?

A treatment could take as little as a few minutes for individual small areas to as long as 90 minutes for larger, multiple body parts. Most areas of the face and body can be treated with Laser Hair Removal so each treatment session is customized to the individuals needs.

What areas of the body can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?

Individuals can get laser hair removal done nearly anywhere on their face and body. It can also be done on various skin, hair, and body types as well. Hair removal treatments are commonly done on large areas such as the legs, arms, chest, back and stomach; however, it can also be performed on other smaller areas like the bikini area, upper lip, chin, underarms as well as the more delicate areas.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

Some individuals may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described like the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by the patented Dynamic Cooling Device (CDC) that is built into our GentleMax Pro device. For additional comfort, topical numbing ointment can be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment for more sensitive areas like the bikini or upper lip.

Who is a good candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Just about anyone is a candidate for Laser Hair Removal! Our Gentle Max Pro is equipped with the latest technology and is able to target pigmented hair from all skin types (safe for light to dark skin). The best Laser Hair Removal results tend to be achieved on darker, courser hair. However, a number of other factors play a role in determining how effective the treatment will be for you. During your free consultation, you will be able to ask questions regarding the treatment, as well as be given a personal evaluation and a recommended treatment plan.

Does Laser Hair Removal help with ingrown hair and razor bumps?

Laser Hair Removal can definitely help reduce and eventually eliminate both ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

Is Laser Hair Removal safe?

Although individuals who undergo Laser Hair Removal experience none or few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In very rare instances, blistering may occur.

How is Laser Hair Removal different from Elecrolysis?

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, Laser Hair Removal effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
