Get Clear, Healthy Nails

Eminence Medical Aesthetics offers Laser Nail Fungus (Onychomycosis) Removal in Princeton, NJ. Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail.  As the fungal infection goes deeper, nail fungus may cause your nail to further discolor, thicken and crumble at the edge. It can affect one, several or even all of your nails.  If your condition is mild and not bothering you, you may not notice it until it becomes a more serious issue. If your nail fungus is painful and has caused thickened nails, self-care steps and medications may help. But even if treatment seems successful, nail fungus often comes back. This is why we recommend to use our Nail Fungus Removal Laser to remove the fungus before your condition intensifies.

How does Laser Nail Fungus Removal work?

We use our Cutera laser to treat Toe Nail Fungus by focusing its narrow beam of intense light through the toenail to irradiate the fungus underneath. This kills the fungi living under the nail, allowing new, healthy nail tissue to grow in and push the nail damaged by the infection out.

How long does it take to get rid of toenail fungus with laser?

It takes someone treating Nail Fungus with laser about 3 months to observe a significant improvement and up to 9 months for effected nails to grow out completely. Laser Nail Fungus treatments are typically conducted 2 to 4 weeks apart, if on an aggressive regimen. As condition improves, treatment can be spaced out about 6 weeks apart.

What is the post-care for Nail Fungus Removal?

Normal activities can be resumed immediately after Laser Nail Fungus treatment. Slight redness around the nail is normal and subsides within 24 hours. You shouldn’t experience any pain after the procedure. To improve treatment results, it is important that you thoroughly clean and dry your toes and feet daily and if possible, apply an anti-fungal cream. Keep your toenails short and trimmed straight across. Long nails break and provide easy access for fungus to re-infect the nail bed. Wear sandals or flip-flops in public places that are wet such as hotel bathrooms, locker rooms and indoor swimming pools. Try to avoid sweating in your shoes.
